A very big ‘thank you’ to all who took part in our first two Christmas Tree Festivals and helped to make them such a success. In 2016 we were able to donate £3,325 to Samaritans.
Our Christmas Tree Festival this year, supporting Save the Children, takes place from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 December, and we hope you will take part. Featuring around 40 beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and illuminated trees, they will fill the church and make a spectacular display throughout the building, especially as daylight begins to fade.
On 25 December each year, over 2 billion people (over a third of the world’s population) will celebrate the birth of Christ – with many more (Armenian, Orthodox and Coptic Christians) celebrating in January. To reflect this worldwide celebration, and the many nationalities represented in our Trinity congregation, all the trees in this year’s Festival will be decorated following the theme of “Christmas Around the World” and you are invited to decorate a tree to depict a country where Christmas is celebrated.
If you’d like to sponsor and/or decorate a tree, please get in touch as soon as possible. The cost is £60 for a 5ft tree.
Email email@example.com or contact us via the Church Office, Trinity URC, Mansel Road, SW19 4AA.
We will need to limit the number of trees to 40, so please let us have your application form as soon as possible. Twenty-six have now been sponsored, so we have just fourteen left. Click here for the application form.
Your creative imagination is the only limiting factor when decorating a Christmas tree for the Festival! We will provide the trees and stands – you provide the lights and decorations to represent the country of your choice (first-come-first-served!). Most importantly, each tree should aim to entertain the Festival’s visitors. It can be great fun and very rewarding.
Tree decorators and sponsors will be listed in the Festival programme. The event will be widely publicised to attract as many visitors as possible and to acknowledge participants’ support. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your organisation to the attention of the hundreds of people who will visit our Festival.
Your sponsorship will add real value to the Festival, widening the community celebration and helping to cover costs, meaning more can be raised for Save the Children, our Festival charity.
